MO LE, MO BAA, MO TUN GBAA PADA. MMM NIGERIA RE-OPENS AFTER CAUSING MANY PEOPLE TO GO INTO COMA.

MMM IS BACK OOO!
Many people were said to be in a state of coma when the news of the freezing of accounts broke. Those who had made plans to spend their money for some projects and Programmes at the end of the year had those projects postponed aborted. There was panic and great confusion in the country on December 13, 2016 when the scheme froze accounts of members without their preparation for it.
MMM NIGERIA
MMM Nigeria
MMM participants woke up on Tuesday, December 13 morning to the heartbreaking news that accounts have been frozen with the possibility that their money may not be retrieved. Fear gripped hearts as many had millions locked up in the MMM account.
Many people were said to have wept uncontrollably, believing that the scheme was gone and their money had disappeared forever. Those who were due to get help could not as it was said that those who were to provide help at that period were not willing as it was the festive period. It was learnt that many were preserving their money for the celebration, hence unwilling to provide needed help to others.
Many of the participants faulted the decision of the management of the scheme, argued that the decision would trigger the downfall of the scheme. They said most people will hence, be skeptical in staking their money while a good number of them said such decision was selfish and would have been better if it was conveyed to members before the scheme was closed.
While the fear and panic continued, MMM management explained that the frozen accounts would be re-opened on January 14, 2017. There were mixed feelings over the announcement of a resumption date. While some, especially members, were consoling themselves with the new resumption date, others were pessimistic and felt that the scheme was gone for good. Their argument was that that was how it froze accounts in other countries but did not return again.
But on Friday, January 13, the cyberspace was again rented as the management of the scheme stood by their words and defrosted the accounts of members. The news rent the air, shaking the internet and has become the subject of discuss in most gatherings across the country.

"Nigeria must return to agriculture' - Obasanjo

Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigeria had no excuse for the poor state of its agriculture sector. Obasanjo stated this at an agriculture seminar in Abuja organised by Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) on Tuesday, October 18. According to him, researches had revealed that about 65 per cent of the country’s population were faced with “food insecurity’’. He called on Nigerians to make agriculture more attractive, saying that the country had a comparative advantage in the sector and should, therefore, not suffer food shortage, Vanguard reports. Obasanjo expressed concern that investment in the sector could not address the food insecurity in the country. He said that some countries that went through the same challenges as Nigeria had all walked out of the problem, but that Nigeria’s was getting worse. “We must return to agriculture as a means to increase our food production in Nigeria. “We must all play our cards either in farming, processing, manufacturing, packaging, and we must put in our best to revamp the sector and address food insecurity in our country,’’ he said. Obasanjo challenged Nigerians to work hard to attain zero hunger level in 2025, adding that farmers should use appropriate technologies for better yields. He regretted that many farmers in the country were still using hoe and cutlass. The Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh,In his address said the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to diversifying the nation’s economy through agriculture.

Boko Haram eradicated from Nigeria – Chief of Army Staff

buratai
The chief of army staff Tukur Buratai on Tuesday, October 18, said all Boko Haram terrorists have been eliminated from Nigerian territory. The army chief speaking in Lagos at the Albati Barracks while commissioning some structures said most of the terrorists’ attacks are carried out by insurgents from the Lake Chad Basin. Buratai said these attacks are mostly carried out outside the borders of Nigeria. “You cannot call it resurgence. We are taking care of all these. Wherever there is attack, we look at it to see what happened so that we can address specific issues,” Buratai said. “This is a conflict and we have done very well and gone very far. We have pushed them outside our territory. Those who attack mostly come from outside to attack our people. “So, we are working with the multinational Joint Task Force to address that. They are very few and they come from across borders,” he said. While working with the MNJTF to address insurgent attacks at the Basin, Buratai said the Nigerian army plan to free all those under terrorists’ captivity despite ongoing negotiation process. “We are working on our strategy to ensure that all abducted persons, including Chibok girls are rescued. The negotiations by the government does not hinder our strategy,” Buratai said. The army chief added that any arrangement done through diplomacy is also focused on the same aim – rescuing all abducted persons. “The army is collaborating with all security services. We are not overwhelmed nor over stretched. We are better trained, better equipped and have better intelligence.” Meanwhile, the Nigerian army has said some soldiers are missing after an attack on troops by terrorists in Borno state on Monday, October 17. The army spokesperson Sani Usman said the troops who did their best to defend the location to no avail were forced by the insurgents to withdraw from the location. Also, 13 soldiers sustained various degree of injuries from the operation.

Governor Ayo Fayose shuts down Access Bank in Ado-Ekiti

Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose has forced Access Bank in the state to shut down its operation, SaharaReporters says.
Fayose’s decision came after Access Bank’s officials detained the wife and eight-month-old son of the former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode inside the bank on Monday, October 17.
The detention of Precious Fani-Kayode and her son, Aragon, the bank official said, was on instructions from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The bank officials had claimed that the account which Precious tried to draw money from was flagged by the commission.
It was also through the intervention of the state governor that Precious and her son were released from the bank.
It was gathered that Fayose also swore that the bank would not operate in Ado-Ekiti again till the end of his tenure.
However, the former minister in a statement last night condemned the action by the bank and the EFCC.
Fani-Kayode said the said account had only N200,000 and has never held more than N500,000.
He said he has never had any kind of business dealings with his wife and wonders why the EFCC would go after her.
He further called out President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to face him like a man rather than go after his young wife, son or family.
Fani-Kayode and three others are currently facing charges of money laundering before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
He also said the commission had no officials in Ado-Ekiti were the incident occurred.
Uwujaren also explained that the Access Bank account from which Mr Fani-Kayode’s wife tried to withdraw money had been flagged by the commission long ago and anyone trying to withdraw cash from a flagged account has to be questioned.

It’s Only In Nigeria We Arrest Before We Investigate, Says NBA Secretary

Isiaka Olagunju, general secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), says it is erroneous to level allegations of corruption against the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC).

Speaking on Monday on a Raypower radio programme, The Platform, while fielding questions on the recent raid of some judges’ homes by the Department of State Services (DSS), noted It’s only in Nigeria we arrest before we investigate.

He said Nigerians should not forget that a week ago, the NJC not only dismissed three judges on allegations of corruption but recommended them for prosecution.

He stated that raid on the homes of the judges was not done according to due process.“Any allegation against the NJC, with due respect, is quite erroneous. Apparently, they are not aware of the position of the NJC; we always rely on what we read on the newspapers and social media,” Olagunju said.

“Based on the facts available to us, the NBA, NJC is doing what they are supposed to do and they are doing well. There may be room for improvement; we are not saying they are perfect.

“Of course there is no prefect condition in life, but if you need room for improvement, there must be engagement. It’s not by confrontation; it’s by engagement to achieve what you want to achieve.

“It’s only in Nigeria we arrest before we investigate; we are not saying the judges are corrupt or not corrupt but due process was not followed. If a constable is found not doing the right thing he is firstly dismissed before he is prosecuted. The fight against corruption is a process.

“Please we should not forget that just about a week ago, the NJC dismissed three justices — one justice of the court of appeal and two judges of the high court — and even recommended the prosecution of one of them.

“We need to appreciate the efforts made by the NJC. If you want to make comments, you should make comments with the facts available to us, we should not rely on speculation.”

He explained that a committee of the NBA would look into the matter and advise the law body of a decision to take.

“We are not gathering information; they will look into the matter and advise us so we would know the decision to take or what to do, and hopefully the NJC is meeting today in Abuja and before the end of today we will also come out with something. But definitely, it’s not together information but to look into the matter,” he added.

“What are the real issues? Because we rely on what we believe on social media, on newspapers, but we established a committee to look into the matter and see or give us the actual facts.”

BREAKING: Tension as soldiers confront Shiites in Kaduna

There is some tension in Kaduna as reports have emerged that troops from the Nigerian army have surrounded a gathering of Shi’a Muslims in Kaduna, with worshipers trapped inside on Tuesday, October 11. This is coming days after the Kaduna state government declared the Shi’a sect illegal. The UK-based Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), said in a statement that the encircled worshipers were gathered to commemorate historical events associated with the Islamic month of Muharram that are particularly significant in the Shi’a calendar. The group also said: “Shortly before the Kaduna Markaz mosque on Zango Road was encircled by armoured military vehicles carrying heavily armed soldiers and also an ambulance were among a convoy of 18 military vehicles seen nearby.” The group then called on the federal government to withdraw the soldiers and allow the worshipers to continue their worship. However, according to a Premium Times source the standoff was happening at the residence of Muhtar Sahabi, who is a senior Shi’a leader. The eyewitness source also said that dozens of armed soldiers and mobile police officers surrounded the compound and were waiting for those gathered inside to leave. “It appears they want to make arrests following the recent ban,” the source said, stating that some women and children who started coming out were sent back by the soldiers.Shiites have been under pressure, since the Kaduna state government declared the movement illegal in the state on Friday, October 7. Kaduna state government kicked off the war on Shiite Muslims in the state with the ordering of the arrest of one of the leaders of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).

Brother and sister tortured for staying resolute to Christianity

A gang of Mulsim men kidnapped two young Christian siblings for their unwillingness to turn to Islam in a small village in Kasur, Pakistan. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Christians in Pakistan According to the British Pakistani Christian Association, their relatives were repeatedly intimidated by the gang members who threatened them with guns, sticks and metal poles. Last week the Muslims broke into their family mud house and took away Arif and his sister Jameel after they refused to accept Islam or die. Both brother and sister were tortured and Arif was forced to listen to his sister’s screams as she was gang raped in a next room. The next morning the 20-year-old man somehow managed to get rid of the shackles and return to his family. Unfortunately, Jameela, aged 17, wasn’t able to escape and she remains missing. Wilson Chowdry, the chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association said: “We will now begin the arduous task of helping them rebuild their lives in an atmosphere of safety. However, the captured daughter Jameela may well never be found and her malicious kidnap is causing great anguish and despair.” Local police reportedly refused to investigate the case and the family are deeply traumatised.

Tension as 501 Ghanaian soldiers opt to join Boko Haram, ISIS

v2-isisThere is a growing concern following agitation by some 501 sacked Army recruits who are threatened to join terrorist groups like ISIS or Boko Haram. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter File photo: Soldiers ready to join Boko Haram and ISIS over unfair dismissal from the army. According to Ghana Web, the threat comes after what the soldiers have termed an unfair treatment after they were unceremoniously dumped out of boot camp. The recruits said even though some of their colleagues were found wanting by the instructors, they had never claimed the training was too difficult as claimed by the leadership of the training school, the basis for which they were sent home. Convener of the recruits, Frank Antwi, in an interview with Adom News said though they could not complete their training, the training they had before the unfortunate dismissal from the training school is enough to qualify them to be recruited into ISIS or Boko Haram unless they are recalled into the training school. They believe they qualified but have been dismissed wrongly as a result of other considerations instead of their inability to complete the required training. But a Security Expert and Assistant Director at the New York University, Dr Nicholas Nii Okine has condemned the threat and recommended that National Peace Council and the intelligence agencies step in. He is suggesting counseling and mini reintegration process to re-tool them to perform other duties for the state, cautioning that this threat if not managed could be disastrous.
